Candice
Brathwaite
She started with a blog, a point of view, and the conviction that her story was worth telling. A decade later, she is a two-time Sunday Times bestselling author, a sold-out international touring act, a broadcaster, a podcaster, and one of the most recognisable voices in British culture. She built all of it from scratch — and entirely on her own terms.
The Story
Built from the ground up.
"My work advocates for Candice Brathwaite — and I think I'm very deserving of being that selfish."
Candice Brathwaite's story is one of deliberate, relentless self-construction. She didn't wait for a seat at the table — she built her own platform, her own audience, and her own rules, starting from a blog in 2016 and a very clear sense of who she was and what she wanted to say.
What followed was a decade of consistent, quality work that refused to be boxed in. Author, broadcaster, podcaster, speaker, brand strategist — Candice has operated across all of these simultaneously, with each strand feeding and reinforcing the others. The through-line in everything is voice: a voice that is warm and direct, funny and serious, personal and universal all at once.
Her debut I Am Not Your Baby Mother (2020) became a Sunday Times bestseller and the first book written by a Black British woman about Black British motherhood to enter the British Library. Her fourth book, Manifest(o) (2024), became an instant Sunday Times bestseller and took her on a sold-out international tour spanning the UK, US, and Canada — playing to rooms full of women who'd been waiting for exactly this conversation.
None of it has been handed to her. Every room she's in, she's earned. And she's only getting started.

The Books
Four books. Four different conversations.
2024 · Instant Sunday Times Bestseller
What does it look like to manifest the life you want when the world hasn't exactly been on your side? Candice's most personal and most empowering book — built around four pillars of Seeing, Believing, Doing, and Being. The book that took her around the world.
Personal Development2020 · Sunday Times Bestseller
The book that started everything. A frank, funny, and unflinching account of Black British motherhood — a world that had never been written about like this before. Bernardine Evaristo called it "accessible, shocking, honest." The British Library agreed.
Memoir · Cultural Commentary2021
A bold, incisive essay collection — Candice at her most reflective and unfiltered. Moving between the personal and the political, exploring identity, womanhood, race, and self-definition in contemporary Britain.
Essays2022
Her move into fiction — a sharp, funny YA novel about grief, race, class, and first love. Stylist called it "funny and heart-warming" with Brathwaite tackling "big themes with a deft touch." Proof she could do it all.
Fiction · YABeyond the Books
A presence across every platform.
One of the UK's most sought-after keynote speakers and event hosts. Liberty London called her talk "the best we've ever put on in 150 years of the store." She speaks on motivation, personal brand building, confidence, leadership, and more — and delivers every time.
Host of Conversations with Candice — a solo long-form podcast launching in 2026 for people who are done playing small. Previously co-hosted Closet Confessions with Coco Sarel, which amassed over 3 million downloads and sold out multiple live shows across 5 seasons.
An established broadcaster and presenter across major UK platforms including Lorraine and Steph's Packed Lunch. Known for her clarity, warmth, and the ability to make any topic feel both important and accessible.
Her Substack, Off_line., is where the writing goes further than the feed. Personal essays on ambition, motherhood, identity, and the messy, honest reality of building a life on your own terms. Over 1,000 subscribers and growing.
Candice works with global brands on campaigns rooted in purpose, narrative depth, and cultural relevance — moving beyond transactional influence to meaningful, long-term partnership. She approaches every collaboration as a creative strategist, not just a face.
Following the release of Manifest(o), Candice embarked on a sold-out international tour across the UK, US, and Canada — playing to packed rooms in London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, New York, Atlanta, and Toronto. The demand was global. The response was electric.
"She has become one of those rare voices that makes you feel simultaneously seen, challenged, and genuinely entertained."— Reader review, Manifest(o)
On Screen & On Air
A familiar face. An unforgettable voice.
Candice's broadcast presence is as natural as her writing — warm, clear, and always with something worth saying. She brings the same no-nonsense intelligence to a television studio that she brings to the page, making her equally at home discussing fashion on Lorraine and speaking about social change on the news.
On radio, she's appeared on BBC Radio 1Xtra, HITS Radio, Apple Music's Dotty Show, and BBC regional stations across the country. Her podcast Conversations with Candice — launched in 2026 — takes that same voice into long-form territory, exploring the things that don't always get said.
